Building Commissioning; Everything is Connected

Wesley Stanhope and Ken Neuhauser of Building Evolution Corporation (BEC) explain that buildings are comprised of potentially competing system that are expected to work in harmony with each other. Commissioning (Cx) is a living and adaptive process that can be implemented at any point throughout the lifespan of a building, ensuring that the building systems. Commissioning is a process that ensures performance of HVAC and enclosure systems, by systematically reviewed, tested, and ensure quality control between components of interactive systems. The primary goals are to ensure systems are suitable for the facility needs, ensure optimum performance, and reduce O&M costs.

Wes and Ken will share lessons learned from projects to explain why for new construction and renovations, the most successful building Commissioning (Cx) starts before design has begun, but on the other side of the spectrum Retro-Commissioning (RCx) is for existing buildings (because it wasn’t running right the first time!!!).
